News
and Info From Davey's Motel
04/12/08
Total snowfall 10 inches this is turning out to be one long
winter.
(Hot
Tub, Sauna, Heated Workshop and Wax area)
Motorcyclists
are welcome at Davey's Motel and we would love to talk bikes
and rides. As a avid rider myself its great to talk to others
and learn where they have been and what stories you have to
tell as we all have some great stories to share.
Pet's
are allowed in certain rooms only, and must be declared at time
of check in or at time of reservation. It is at the discretion
of our staff as to allow the pet or not there is a $5.00 charge
per pet per day, max two per room.
If you stay in Ironwood and ride
to Wisconsin you will need a Michigan ORV Permit.
You have to wear a helmet to ride
a ATV in Michigan it's the law.
We
do have a few rules for ATVers.
1. Because the towels get so dirty
(will not come clean from the iron ore) you have to bring your
own towels to use.
2. We have rags you can use do
not use our towels to clean up mud.
3. There will be a hose in the
back yard that you can use to hose down your wheeler and yourself
so we can keep the mud out of the parking lot and the rooms.
4.There will be plastic on the
floor in the rooms so you can put your dirty riding clothe and
boots on so as to keep the carpet and room clean. The iron ore
and mud from the trails is very hard to get off the carpets
etc. I'm sure you do this at home.
5. If you need we will have garbage
bags available to store your dirty clothe and boots in to help
keep the rooms clean.
6.Please remove your ridding clothe
and boots outside before entering the rooms.
7.You have to park your atv's on
the grass as not to get the parking lot dirty.
We are not trying to be a pain
in your back side but as you know it is very hard to get the
mud etc. out of carpets and such. Thanks Sam and Anne

We offer
large clean rooms with one queen or two double beds. Rooms have
cable TV with remotes, air, in room coffee, showers and tubs,
room controlled hot water heat, direct dial phones, wake up
service.
Off the lobby are a hot tub, sauna, and large deck for the customer
to relax and enjoy the evenings. We also offer a grill for those
who would like to barbecue outside along with picnic tables.
In summer there is lot's of waterfalls to visit through out
the area the best along the Black River Scenic Byway. Copper
Peak the largest man made ski jump in the world standing 240
feet above ground with a vista of 3 states. Then there is the
shoreline of Lake Superior with its sandy beaches where one
can look for agates. The best places to get to the beach's are
Black River Harbor and Little Girl's Point. Don't forget the
Porkie Pine Mts. State Park just 50 miles away, with the famous
vista of Lake of the Clouds. They also offer many miles of hiking
trails. Mt Bikers we offer many miles of backwoods road to enjoy
and the area is starting to add MT Bike trail systems. Golfers
we have 4 courses to choose from one North of Bessemer is very
nice and new it's 9 holes, a little short but narrow. Then there
are two 18 hole courses one in Ironwood Gogebic Country Club
and Eagle Bluff in Hurley. Our newest golf course is Sky View
at White Cap Mountain, from what I have heard it will be one
of the best courses in the Midwest when its totally finished.
It's a must play if you are a avid golfer and in the area it
will take your breath away.
In the winter we offer a large parking area for snowmobile trailers
along with a heated workshop in case you have to work on your
sled. You can ride from your door to the trails. Our area offers
a 1000 miles of groomed trails down railroad grades and through
beautiful woods. The big plus about our area verses other areas
how easy it is to get to the trails, food, gas, etc. Most other
areas leave you scratching your head as how to get some place.
The other big thing our area does not do is close up at 9:00
PM. and leave you stranded to find food or a drink. Trail permits
available at the office along with trail maps. I'm an avid Snowmobiler
so I can help with planning a ride if you so desire, I also
help the local snowmobile club. Snowmobile rentals across the
street at Cloverland Motors ( Ski-doo & Polaris sleds) for
rates and info call 1-906-932-1202 Also Northwoods Rentals (
Arctic Cat Sleds) at 715-561-5221 . Snowmobilers if you would
like to get on my trail update e-mail list just drop me a e-mail
The update goes out every week when the season starts.
Skiers have the choice of five beautiful hills that are some
of the Midwest's finest. 4 of the hills are within 15 miles
of Ironwood (White Cap, Powderhorn, Blackjack and Indianhead.
The Porkies Ski hill is 50 miles away with a beautiful view
of Lake Superior. We offer discount lift tickets for some of
the area hills. All hills have snowmaking equipment to insure
the best skiing possible for your enjoyment. We also have a
wax room for your convenience.
Cross Country skiers can enjoy the best skiing in the Midwest
right here in Ironwood. The favorite among skiers is ABR located
just 4 miles south of Ironwood. They offer 50 Kilometers of
tracked and skating trails. They offer a sauna and a warm up
area and state of the art grooming equipment. We offer a wax
room with bench and wax iron.
Remember that most winters we have snow early and late just
call and we will tell you how skiing is or how the snowmobile
trails are.
We are located in the middle of Ironwood within walking distance
of Country Kitchen & Pub, Romeo's, Mikes's, McDonald's and
Bowling alley bar and grill just across the street.
